Winter favourites (Basically Christmas)

Hey guys and yes I’m still ill even after for sleeping for 13 hours, oops. But as it’s getting colder and yes we’ve already seen the first bit of snow (kill me now), I thought why not share with you some of my winter favourites, does Christmas count as a favourite because that definitely wins ultimate favourite.  Anyway other than Christmas here are some of my favourite things in winter.

Oversized knit cardigan

This year I was really set on having an oversized comfy jumper (thank you Lucy Williams- fashion me now) that you can just throw on top of any outfit and be like hey I don’t need to be cold anymore or I just need something to cuddle up in whilst watching The Holiday. I honestly searched high and low for a cardigan that was … let’s say almost perfect (I still want a deep green one), and found one in the one place I admit I never tend to look in Mango and it was on sale so I’m pretty happy about that.  It was the perfect oversized comfy cardigan that you’re not breaking the bank for.

Oversized looking industrial boots

I’ve always admired people that can pull off doc. Martins and thought I really wish they’d look good on me, but I always felt they were just too big, I was for sure giving off some clown feet vibes and I’m not saying I’ll never try to wear them but for the meantime I’ve found a less bulky pair from New Look (yet again a place I don’t tend to look) they give off the same grungy look with out giving me clown feet and with the snow, rain and who knows what else winter can bring to us there the perfect shoe to keep your feet warm and on the pavement – the ice will take me, I honestly look like Bambi.

Classic Christmas movies

We all knew I had to get Christmas in here somewhere but they definitely deserve a mention for winter favourites because there the only things I tend to watch around the Christmas season minus Harry Potter, they just get you in the Christmas spirit and are great for putting on in the background whilst baking mince pies or wrapping up your gifts, they just honestly make you so happy and remind me of the excitement being a kid.
My go to:

0   The Holiday
0   Love actually
0   Elf
0   The Grinch
0   Mickeys once upon a Christmas
0   Christmas with the Cranks

Rebel Kitchen MYLK hot chocolate

Nothing says winter like curling up on the couch with a warm hot chocolate with marshmallows and whatever extra snacks you want to indulge in. The drink of winter I tend to put my faith in other than the obvious mulled wine is always a classic Hot chocolate (obviously dairy free, no one need that unnecessary stomach pain apart from on Christmas day).
I don’t really have a set recipe I just mix some cocoa powder with maple syrup into a paste add the milk and then heat until melted and the perfect temperate for me, occasionally add some marshmallows and you’re all set.

The Music
Let’s not beat around the bush here if you’re not listening to Michael Buble’s Christmas album you’re lying to yourself and me.

Favourite Place

Castle Howard (also the entrance is lined with Christmas trees)

From growing up near the countryside I’ve always favored small villages over the big city when it comes to winter (no wonder I love The Holiday so much). So it’s not surprising my favourite place to go in winter is located in the middle of nowhere on the outskirts of York. It’s a little castle that comes with a small little deli and the cutest garden center that you most definitely want to get your wreaths from and acres of land that you can walk around and work up an appetite for a Sunday Roast. However if I’m not up for braving the country roads when icy I am always more than happy to wander around a good Christmas market and partake in a cheeky mulled wine.

Skincare Saviors
Last but not least the one thing that I care the most for in winter is my skincare, because no one wants dry skin I winter. My first savior if things start getting really extreme and the cold is just too much for any of my skincare I always reach for the Weleda skin foodit just sorts out any stubborn dry skin. It’s not the best smelling product I own but it works and is a must have in my routine in the winter.

Even though my skincare doesn’t change too much in the winter from my usual glossier routine I have recently started to add a new moisturizer into my nightly routine that is slowly becoming a must have in the skincare regime. The Sunday Riley C.E.Omakes my skin so glowy and fresh and fills my skin with extra vitamin C that I most definitely need in the colder months of the year.

Something I know me and my sister love at this time of year is a good face mask and the best that we’ve found so far comes from Dr. Jart, their sheet masks honestly just transforms my skin instantly from dull to vibrant in 20 minutes. Also the range they do has anything you need for your skin covered, anti aging, hydrating you name it they’ve got it.

Also lets not mention I have an unhealthy relationship with the liberty Christmas store… I may have bought more baubles than I can fit on my tree. (I’m not sorry; I’ll just buy another tree).
