Every year I always have a clear vision of what I want to look like and be like on my Holidays, I say holidays instead of summer because, you never know in the UK if it’s really going to be summer or torrential rain (yes all English really complain about is the weather). But it always stems from those instagrams you follow all year round and think yepp that is exactly what I want this summer, but lets be honest we’re all influenced by instagram whether it from a certain swimwear brand or skincare product, it just seems like the mother load of all your summer dreams, and I for one am not complaining.
This year my mind is going into overdrive from excitement just from thinking about the books I want to read by the pool, then I start writing lists of what I want to buy and even though it takes up unnecessary room at least you know you have it by the time it’s ready to fly. Anyway I thought I’d share with you my wish list for this summer and some of my outfit inspiration, let’s be honest we all love a good summer hype.
Body care + SPF
I know a lot of people, me included, that are very cautious when it comes to skincare and SPF especially when it gets to summer and this year I’m going to try a few new things, that being said I’m still going to take my usual suspects: Coola SPF spray (especially the pina colada, it smells amazing), also Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum cream that I’m honestly going to rave about until the day I die, but they have recently released a new formula that I’m going to try, so I’ll let you know how that goes.
Now on to the new, and the one I’m most excited to try is Bali Body’s tanning oil, which I have bought three different types to try out which I will of course let you know about, hopefully it does what it says and will deepen my tan.
Outfit ideas
I know outfit planning is slightly a weird concept because honestly who knows what they want to wear that far in advance especially when you’re on holiday and literally throw on anything that you know isn’t going to make you sweat it out. But I still like the idea of knowing what I have in my suitcase and I know I’m not going to look like a walking mess.
My ideas for this year:
° Sundresses/ wrap dresses + Dc Martens (I know slightly strange but I’m really loving the feminine with the chunky industrial style boots)
° Re/Done high waist shorts + thin strap tops (Classic)
° White crochet dresses + nude sandals (instagram dreams – we all want to look like a Zimmermann add)
° Two piece wide leg trousers + crop tops (good on a night out or a shopping spree)
° High waist shorts and oversized cotton shorts (easy to throw on for a trip to the beach or for breakfast)
Swimwear
Now comes the fun part, swimwear (raising the roof emoji) or shall I say Bikinis because no one needs those tan lines, which is also put into major consideration when it comes to picking swimwear because even though I do love the fancy looking instagram worthy suits, I also don’t want to look like a zebra when I get home.
My go to brands:
° Solid + striped (The Elsa, The Elle)
° Triangl (all about the glittery pink)
° Faithful the brand (anything it’s all gorgeous)
° Hunza G (The hot pink is Ista goals)
Music (but most of the new summer tunes we all know haven’t come out yet)
I know that I have no idea of what I’m going to listen to when it gets to July and August because we all know we’re going to be graced with some hella sick tunes by then (The Weekend I’m looking at you). But already I know some kick ass bands I want to listen to minus the obvious “cough” Fleetwood Mac “cough “but if you’re looking for suggestions Lovely the Bands album is a great soundtrack to I’m going to sit in the back of the car on the way to the beach pretending I’m in a teen movie. Also Blossoms so chill and great for a slightly tipsy night in.

Accessories + shoes
I am a complete sucker for a good pair of sunglasses, trying to chose the best pairs to take with me and then justifying why not just take all of them seems to happen every time I go on holiday, even when you know it’s not going to be sunny and its like -10°, so we all know I have a new pair sat in my wish list waiting in the wings … or two (enter stage left Ray-Ban’s hexagonal sunglasses).
My second kryptonite of the accessories world comes in as shoes, this coming from the girl that seems to wear the same pair of shoes on holiday because I’m so paranoid of shredding up my feet with a new pair or ruining a pair that just look too pretty to ruin, still doesn’t stop me buying them (monkey covering eyes emoji). Nevertheless this year I am determined to find a pair that I’m actually going to wear, without fear (can I just buy the Hermes Oran sandals already).
Also if anyone has any good book recommendations do let me know so far I’m pretty sure I want to read Sharp Objects and is it weird to read Call me by your name two summers in a row?
