(If you wish to turn this into a drinking game of how many times I say Pumpkin I wish you luck).
Well as we can all tell autumn and winter are swiftly approaching (this was clear just from the return on the pumpkin latte that I’m not going to lie about I don’t think I’ve ever tried). But it’s also clear in the fashion choices that we’ve started to make changing from the sheer white tops and shorts to the chunky knit sweaters and the dark colours. As soon as it hits fall it’s like we completely forget what bright colours are, apart from the occasional red (we’re so talking about Christmas jumpers here).
My favourite trends this autumn/ winter
Teddy Bear coats (I have resisted for so long and I’ve finally decided I like them)
Industrial style heeled boots (mainly the Louis Vuitton)
Knee high boots
Oversized Coats and Blazers
Oversized cashmere cardigans
Dad socks (you know what I mean by dad socks)
Jewelry layering over white tees and knits
And it’s not just our fashion choices that are changing it’s also our homes, we go from the thin white sheets to the wool blankets and the fairy lights that are essential for the darker nights. And lets be honest here we know you definitely want to curl up under a blanket with a hot chocolate (dairy free in my case) and watch Harry Potter on repeat until it’s socially acceptable to crack out the Santa Clause movies instead.
Autumn essentials in my home
Candles (scent to your preference)
Fairy lights (themed for Halloween as well)
Furry throw
Pinecones
Occasionally a pumpkin in various sizes (depending on how far into autumn we are)
Harry Potter DVDs/ books
Tartan throws (or just autumnal coloured)
Then we get to the food department of Autumn yes I know the pumpkin lattes are a thing but in my mind all I want to eat is pumpkin, roasted, puree, any possible way to you could cook a vegetable. Plus autumn is the time of year you want to start home baking (and not just because the bake off is back).
My favourite/ go to Autumnal food
Pumpkin pasta (just roast the pumpkin, add cooked pasta to it with a white sauce and cook in the oven till slightly crispy – cheese is optional)
Banana loaf (any recipe is fine)
Crumble or any kind of pies (dare I say pumpkin again)
Salad (but with the added extra of some roasted sprouts or squash *pumpkin*)
A Sunday roast (who doesn’t love a roast)
Pancakes (only on weekends)
Clearly I’m now ready for autumn and winter, minus the part where it gets really cold and I start crying that I’m going to die of hypothermia. I’m so looking into moving to the Sun this year just so I can escape the thought of getting a cold (shudders).
(soundtrack of autumn - The fall by imagine dragons ... and maybe this is halloween)
